The Suzuki Ecstar rider continues to make progress at Phillip Island and qualifies 13th for the race.

Álex Rins was not able to enter Q2 at the Australian GP on Saturday, missing out by only a tenth of a second. The youngest rider on the grid continues to make progress and managed to ride at a promising pace ahead of the race. He will start from 13th position.

Despite not being able to enter directly into Q2, as weather conditions did not allow him to reduce his time in FP3, Rins pushed hard in Q1 and was in second place for most of the session. Finally he placed third, missing out on a place in Q2.

The Suzuki rider’s pace is good and tomorrow he will try to make a good start to the Australian Grand Prix from 13th position.

Álex Rins

“This is a track that I enjoy a lot. Today we had a good FP4 and Qualifying 1, but unfortunately we couldn’t get into the Q2. During FP4 we tried some things and it seems to work well. Tomorrow we have to make a good start and see about the weather – if it rains or not. In wet conditions, with enough water on track, I think we can do as well as in dry conditions. You can always improve and in my case I’m making steps forward and gaining a better understanding of the bike.”
