The Suzuki Ecstar rider finishes the year with his best result in MotoGP to date, after a great comeback in Valencia.

Álex Rins brought an end to his first season in the premier class with fourth place at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, having started from tenth position.

The Suzuki Ecstar rider had lost several places on the first lap due to a problem at the start, and closed the first lap in 13th place.

From there, little by little, the Spaniard showed the good pace he had in practice and climbed up to sixth place with six laps remaining. At that time, Rins was involved in a beautiful fight with Valentino Rossi, who he was eventually able to leave behind. Crashes at the front allowed Rins to achieve his best result of the year, crossing the finish line in fourth position.

The Suzuki Ecstar driver concludes the season in 16th position with 59 points overall. From Tuesday, Rins will begin the 2018 preseason, with two days of testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

Álex Rins

“Overall it has been a good weekend. We have been improving in each session and we qualified directly to Q2. In the qualifying I expected to get a better position, but otherwise it went well. We had a good pace in the warm-up and I was convinced that I could have a good race. At the start I made a mistake and lost positions, so I had to push from the first lap and try to recover. I think it’s a good way to close the season. Now I’m thinking about the training on Tuesday to start working for next year.”
