Álex Rins gets eighth position on a wet track on the opening day of Malaysian Grand Prix.

The weather played a big part in the action on the opening day of the Malaysian GP. Morning rain left the track slightly slippery for FP1 and, in the afternoon, a downpour made the conditions fully wet, making work easier for the riders. In these conditions Rins was very consistent, achieving eighth position in FP2.

If in the morning Rins was not completely comfortable on his bike, finishing 22nd, in the afternoon he regained his good feeling on his GSX-RR. He managed to stay in the Top 10 for most of the session, with an impressive pace. His best lap, of 2:13.416, placed him eighth.

“The first day in Sepang has been a little strange and there were difficult conditions. In the morning, during FP1, the track was half wet, half dry, so it was difficult to ride at a good pace. It took me a little while to get a good feeling on the bike and I was not able to ride like I would have liked. In the afternoon we had completely wet conditions and the situation changed. I felt much better in the wet and we were able to take a step forward.”
